Refund and Cancellation Policy
How Tawang Tour and Travel handles date changes, cancellations and refunds for North-East India packages operated from Tawang.
Last updated: October 23, 2026
1. How to cancel or change dates
Send a written request from the same phone, WhatsApp, or email used at booking. Verbal messages at the Tawang office should be followed by a written note. The notice period is counted from the working day we receive that message, in Indian Standard Time, against the first service date on your itinerary (Guwahati departure, cab pickup, or first hotel night).
2. Booking amount
The booking amount collected to hold rooms and vehicles is not refundable. It is adjusted against the package if you travel as planned, or against a date change if we can rebook the same season.
3. Cancellation charges on the remaining balance
After deducting the non-refundable booking amount and any supplier tickets already issued, the unused package value is refunded on this scale:
| Notice before first service date | Refund of unused package value |
|---|---|
| 30 days or more | 75% |
| 15 to 29 days | 50% |
| 7 to 14 days | 25% |
| Fewer than 7 days, no-show, or after the trip starts | No refund |
Festival windows (Torgya and Losar in January–March, the Tawang Festival in May, and the Hornbill Festival in December) can carry a stricter hotel policy. If a hotel or transport operator applies a heavier deduction than the table above, that supplier rule is passed through and shown on your credit note.
4. Permits, transport and add-ons
Once an Inner Line Permit (ILP), Protected Area Permit (PAP) or Bumla Pass application is filed, those lines are not refundable after filing. Shared Sumo or private taxi bookings follow the operator’s own cancellation slab, which is often nil close to departure. Adventure activities booked with third-party operators in Tawang or along the route follow that operator’s policy.
5. Weather, landslides and government closures
Snow, landslides, heavy rain and closure orders are common on Arunachal Pradesh and North-East India roads. If a day cannot run as planned, we first offer a route change, a hotel hold, or a later travel date in the same season. A full cash refund is not automatic for weather. Unused hotel nights or cab days that we can recover from our own properties or fleet may be refunded or credited; costs we have already paid onward may not.
6. Date changes
One date change is usually allowed if you write to us 15 days or more before the original start date and if rooms and vehicles are free. Fare differences for a new peak or festival date are payable by you. A second change is treated as a cancellation plus a new booking.
7. How refunds are paid
Approved refunds go back to the original UPI, bank account or card, or as a written credit note for a future Tawang Tour and Travel trip. We aim to release refunds within 14–21 working days after the cancellation is accepted. Bank or gateway charges are deducted. Cash refunds at the office are only made for cash bookings, against ID.
8. Unused services during the trip
Leaving a hotel night, a meal, or a sightseeing loop unused after the trip has started does not create a refund, because those services were held for your party. Early returns because of personal reasons follow the “after the trip starts” line in the table.
