Frequently asked questions
Practical answers for guests booking Tawang and North-East India travel with Tawang Tour and Travel.
Share your dates, group size and destination through the contact form, WhatsApp, or a call to the Tawang office. We send a written itinerary with inclusions and a booking amount. The trip is confirmed only after that amount is received and we reply in writing.
Tawang Tour and Travel is based in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India. You can visit during the day in season, or handle the booking remotely if you are travelling in from Guwahati, Tezpur, Dibrugarh or Delhi.
Yes. We operate our own fleet of bikes and cars, which is how we keep the standard consistent on Tawang, Dirang, Bomdila and the wider North-East India routes. Some nights may use a contracted hotel of a similar category if our rooms are full.
Domestic tourists need an Inner Line Permit (ILP), and foreign tourists need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) for up to 30 days, both issued through a registered tour operator. Bumla Pass visits need an additional defence permit. We file all the paperwork for you - you only need to carry a valid photo ID and passport photographs.
April to September is comfortable and green. October to December offers clear weather and full bloom. December to March brings snow-covered landscapes, and January to March carries the Torgya and Losar festivals. The Tawang Festival is celebrated in May.
The nearest airport and railway station is Guwahati. From there you travel via Tezpur, Bhalukpong, Bomdila and Dirang by government bus or shared Tata Sumo, or by a private taxi you hire for the whole trip. Group travellers usually hire a taxi so the itinerary can be shaped as they wish.
A government photo ID for every traveller (plus passport photographs for permits), warm layers even in summer, personal medicines, and photocopies for permits. Boots, extreme cold clothing and rainwear are needed for treks such as the Bailey Trail. Vehicles have limited boot space, so one medium suitcase plus a daypack per person is a practical limit.
Yes. Honeymoon, family, solo, group, researcher and motorcycle-style trips are all arranged from the same Tawang desk. Tell us the pace you want - a monastery circuit, a Torgya or Losar festival departure, or a mix of hill stations - and we will match vehicles and rooms to that plan.
A booking amount holds the plan; the balance is due before the first service date. Cancellation slabs, weather-related changes, and non-refundable permit lines are explained on our Refund and Cancellation Policy page.
Tawang town and monastery plans are usually comfortable for mixed-age families. High-altitude treks such as the Bailey Trail and the Zemithang or Bumla routes mean long, winding days and thinner air. Tell us ages and any medical notes when you inquire so we can keep the daily kilometre count realistic.
We reroute, hold the hotel, or shift a sightseeing block. Himalayan closures are treated as a change of plan, not an automatic full refund. Credits for unused nights we can recover are described in the refund policy.
The office aims to resolve inquiries around the clock. Peak-season evenings can be busy; WhatsApp and a direct call are the fastest ways to reach the desk if you are already on the road.
