Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh is one of the most picturesque tourist destination of India. 06 Days Itinerary

  • Day 01: Pick up from GUWAHATI airport/railway station and drive to Bomdila, overnight Bomdila.
  • Day 02: BOMDILA to TAWANG, (190 km /6 hrs). In the morning after breakfast visit Upper Gonpa and later drive to Tawang, on the way we will be covering Dirang Dzong at Dirang, Sela Pass (13703 ft), and Jaswant Ghar war Memorial, and the Jang waterfall. Overnight Tawang.
  • Day 03: TAWANG- Full day Tawang sightseeing, first we will visit the famous Tawang Monastery, which was founded by Mera Lama Lodre Gyaltso. He was a contemporary of the fifth Dalai Lama and founded the Monastery during 17th century A.D. At present, it accommodates over 500 monks and houses priceless Buddhist texts and scriptures. Later, we will go on a short trek to Bramdungchung Ani Gompa, which is the abode of nuns and the oldest Ani Gompa in Tawang.
    The Gompa is situated in the lap of a far off mountain laced with natural scenery and comes under the administration of Tawang Monastery and on the way back visit Bramdachung Ani Gonpa, the oldest monastery of the region. After lunch visit, Urgelling Monastery situated 5 km to the south of town. It was here in 1683 Tsangyang Gyatso, HH the sixth Dalai Lama was born. On the way back to the hotel visit the 1962 war memorial. Overnight stay Tawang.
  • Day 04: Full day excursion of Lake and China border, after breakfast we leave for Bumla Pass (China Border) and Lake tour, It takes a full day to cover Bumla and the Lakes. P T Tso and Shongatser Lake are the most popular among the lakes. Overnight Tawang.
  • Day 05: TAWANG – BOMDILA. After breakfast, we will drive back to Bomdila. Overnight Dirang.
  • Day 06: BOMDILA – Guwahati, We start a little early today, drive to the helipad (Bomdila Viewpoint), spend a few minutes and drive to Guwahati, tour ends.

07 Days Itinerary

  • Day 01: GAUHATI-BHALUKPONG: Meet and greet at the Airport and drive to BHALUKPONG (260 Km, 06 hours), overnight Bhalukpong. 
  • Day 02: BHALUKPONG to DIRANG: (145 Km). After breakfast visit Tipi Orchid center, one of the major orchid research centers of the country with more the 500 varieties, and later proceed towards Bomdila (3-4 hrs drive). After lunch at Bomdila, visit Upper Gonpa and drive to Dirang (1 and half hour). Overnight Dirang.
  • Day 03: DIRANG to TAWANG: (145 Km, 7 hrs, Morning, after breakfast drive to Tawang. Cross Sela Pass (13703 ft), spend some lovely time by the Paradise Lake and drive towards Tawang, enroot visit Jaswant Ghar war memorial, and the Jang waterfall. Overnight Tawang.
  • Day 04: Full day Tawang sightseeing – After breakfast visit Tawang Monastery, later visit Gyangong Ani Gonpa and drive back via Bramdung chung anni gonpa. After lunch visit Birth Place of HH the VIth Dalai Lama (Urgeling Gompa) and Tawang War Memorial, overnight Tawang 
  • Day 05: Early morning drive to Bumla Pass, China Border (total 120 Km, full day), Subject to army clearance, enroot cover all the beautiful lakes, PT Tso Lake, Shongatsar Lake, etc, packed lunch is suggested as there is only one canteen at Shongatsar Lake, Overnight in Tawang.
  • Day 06: TAWANG to BOMDILA: (190 Km, 08 hrs.) After Breakfast drives back to Bomdila, lunch on the way, or can have in Dirang, Over Night Bomdila.
  • Day 07: BOMDILA to GUWAHATI Airport: After breakfast transfer to Guwahati Airport for the further journey, tour ends. 

08 Days Itinerary

  • Day 01: GAUHATI – BHALUKPONG: Pick up from Airport/ Railway station and drive to Bhalukpong. Bhalukpong is the entry point to West Arunachal located near the beautiful Kameng River which flows all the way from China. Overnight in Bhalukpong.
  • Day 02: BHALUKPONG – DIRANG: Morning drive to Dirang. Enroot visit Tipi Orchid Sanctuary, Dedza Nag Mandir, Tenga Valley, and Bomdila. Overnight Dirang.
  • Day 03: DIRANG -TAWANG : Morning drive to Tawang. Morning visit typical Monpa village at Dirang and the Dzong. After viewing the beautiful valley of Dirang overlooking the river and inhabited by colorful tribes, proceed towards the Sela Pass (13703 ft) spend some lovely times by the Paradise Lake, and procced towards Tawang, overnight Tawang.
  • Day 04: Full day Tawang sightseeing – visit Tawang Monastery, Gyangong Ani Gonpa, Bramdung chung anni gonpa, Tawang War Memorial, and birth Place of HH the 6th Dalai Lama Urgeling Gompa, overnight Tawang.
  • Day 05: Excursion to Bumla Pass, China Border (total 120 Km, full day), Subject to army clearance, enroot cover all the beautiful lakes, PT Tso Lake, Sengetsur Lake etc, packed lunch is suggested as there is only one canteen, Overnight in Tawang.
  • Day 06: TAWANG- BOMDILA: After breakfast drive to Jang to get a breathtaking view of waterfalls. Pay homage at the Jashwant Garh Indo Chinese War Memorial and drive to Bomdila, enroot visit Sangti Valley, It’s a beautiful valley and is famous for black-necked cranes that visit in winters. Overnight Bomdila.
  • Day 07: BOMDILA – GUWAHATI: After breakfast Visit Bazaar gonpa n upper gompa, later drive to Guwahati. Overnight in Guwahati.
  • Day 08: GUWAHATI: After breakfast visit the Brahmatura river, later visit Kamakhya temple and later drive to Guwahati airport for the further journey, tour ends.

09 Days Itinerary

Another option is, one can spend a day hiking and visiting Monpa tribal village, overnight Tawang.
  • Day 06: Early morning excursion to Bumla Pass, China Border (total 120 Km, full day), Subject to army clearance, enroot cover all the beautiful lakes, PT Tso Lake, Sengetsur Lake etc, packed lunch is suggested as there is only one canteen, Overnight in Tawang.

    • Day 06: TAWANG to BOMDILA: (180 Km, 08 hrs) After Breakfast drive back to Bomdila, lunch on the way or can have in Dirang, Over Night Bomdila.
    • Day 07: BOMDILA to KAZIRANGA: (210 Km, 07 hrs) After breakfast at 09 am drive to Kaziranga via beautiful tea gardens of Assam, lunch can be had at Bhalukpong. Overnight Kaziranga.
    • Day 08: KAZIRANGA: There are two option of safari, elephant and jeep. So one can try elephant in the early morning and jeep safari in the afternoon. Overnight Kaziranga.
    • Day 09: KAZIRANGA to SHILLONG: (260 Km, 06-07 hrs) after breakfast drive to Shillong-check into your hotel. Evening stroll around police bazaar, Shillong’s prime location, overnight Shillong.
    • Day 10: SHILLONG: Full day local sight seen, after breakfast will cover few of the places mentioned on Day 11 and Mawlynong village so that we get more time on day 11, lunch can be had in some sightseeing location as time permits, Overnight Shillong .
    • Day 11: SHILLONG to CHERRAPUNJI: (60 Km 02 hrs). After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee, enroot visit Shillong view point, Shillong pick and elephant falls. Breath taking beautiful scenery, deep gorges and roaring water falls like Nohkalikai, Mawsmai and Kynrem falls-falling from a height to 1000 feet by the side of Shella road about 10kms. From Mawsami falls, the landscape gives it the charismatic beauty that it is known for, packed lunch is served at Thangkharang Park from where one can have panoramic view of Bangladesh. Also visit the mawsami caves and Rama Krishna mission in the heart of Cherrapunjee town. Dinner and overnight Cherrapunjee.
    • Day 12: CHERRAPUNJI to GUWAHATI: (165 Km, 03-04hrs). After breakfast drive to Kamakhya temple in Guwahati and later visit the mighty Brahmaputra River for a short cruise. Overnight Guwahati.
    • Day 13: GUWAHATI: After breakfast transfer to Guwahati Airport for further journey, tour ends.
